The All Americans fought in both World Wars and was the Division in which Sergeant Alvin York earned his Medal of Honor in WWI. The patch is at least 79 years old and in fair plus condition. In 1942 the Division was given permission to wear the Airborne Tab. They initially fought in Sicily and Naples - Foggia on the Italian Boot. I believe small elements were present in North Africa. The All Americans were withdraw from Italy in preparation for the D Day Normandy Invasion. My Dad's neighbor and best friend was in the 508th PIR and he was captured in Normandy a little after the June 6th jump. He was a POW for almost the entire War before being liberated by Russians and fighting with the Russians until wounded.
