Description: WW1 era map of SOUTHERN GERMANY etc showing parts of "RHINELAND OCCUPATION ZONE".The Allied occupation of the Rhineland began just a few weeks after the Armistice, but the Treaty of Versailles which officially ended the War took place in late June 1919. As the occupation lasted until 1930, there's a decade or so in which this map could have been produced. It's essentially a French road map, seemingly for the civilian market, but it came to me with a number of other maps belonging to a WW1 British officer, so I can only imagine that he was part of the occupying forces at some stage. It's in excellent condition due to its strong linen backing and the fact that the panels are all mounted separately to allow for regular and repeated folding without splitting.
