WW1 1918, ships at sea during storm of Oct. 6, 1918, ship listing, RPPC

Description: An interesting real photo postcard (AZO photographic paper) of war ships in heavy seas. A handwritten notation on the back reads, "During storm of Oct. 6, 1918". The photograph taken from the stern of an unidentified ship, shows a following ship listing to the starboard; There appear to be a few other ships on the horizon (hard to tell for sure). Our research indicates that there was a storm at sea in the North Atlantic on this date. The HMS Otranto sank with a loss of several hundred American troops and many of the Otranto crew. We do not know if this photo was taken in the North Channel between Scotland and Ireland, or if it is of other ships struggling through a similar storm. Please note that we judge the photo to br in fair condition. Please review the preceding condition description box and photo gallery. The real photo postcard will be shipped well protected. We combine shipping.
