From years of storage comes this somewhat rare Winchester 3904 Whittler Pattern Pocket Knife. Manufacturer was Taylor Cutlery of Kingsport, TN, under license to Winchester Olin of New Haven, CT. Year of Production was 1988, and so marked on the reverse blade tang. Construction is chrome vanadium carbon steel blades and backsprings; carbon steel rivets; nickel bolsters; brass interior liners; and dark purple or black, genuine bone handles. Pattern is Whittler type. Overall length closed is 3 1/2 inches; main Clip pattern blade measures 2 7/8 inches from heel to point; secondary pen measures 2 3/8 inches; and spey or skinner blade measures 2 1/2 inches. Weight is 87 grams. Note that each blade has its own independent backspring. Finish is polished surface metal, and polished picked surface handle panels. Markings are Winchester / - Trade-Mark - / - Made in U.S.A. – obverse tang; Winchester / Trade Mark inked on the main blade’s obverse side; and 3904 / ‘88 reverse tang. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint liner contact streaking on the blade surfaces. This knife was never used or sharpened.
