Description: Cute vintage gold tone interlocking belt buckle - new with tag. Features a 3d whale in the center of a medallion. I’m assuming it’s vintage 70’s - came from an estate with two other Mimi di N belt buckles that are dated in the mid 1970s. New old stock with original tag. 2.25” long when buckled. 1.25” wide. Accommodates a half inch belt. The history of the American jewelry brand “Dotty Smith” began in 1976 in Lakeville, Connecticut. Officially registered in 1978, the trademark ceased to exist in 2001. Its owner, Doreen Smith Segal (born 1945), ran her private company Dotty Smith Co Inc from 1981 until her retirement in 2010. Dotty Smith jewelers have traditionally used gold tone metal alloys, enamels, rhinestones and faux pearls. The markings on the back of each piece include “Dottie Smith” in capital letters or fancy script. Noteworthy, Doreen Segal owned four trademarks for the production of various goods, from leather belts and scarves, to skirts and blouses. However, her main activity was the manufacture of jewelry – pins, necklaces, belt buckles, earrings and bracelets. Any questions please ask! I have lots of jewelry listed including other belt buckles of a similar vintage, and I’m always happy to combine shipping.
