Description: For sale is an original WW2 USMC officer's valise bag with 1944 contract date. The bag appears to have been re-used at least 3 times, with the last owner being Morton Shea Landy. In good used condition, with some minor canvas separation near the metal fittings for the leather handles. There are scattered light stains on the canvas and the end cap is missing on one of the larger webbing straps. There are two other inked out names, one appears to be "Lt Hibbs" and what was most likely the original owners "W.E. ??NK 1st Lt" Landy was a multi-war vet serving through Vietnam. He was a helicopter gunner with HMM-263 during a 1970 mission where his crew chief received the Medal of Honor detailed here: http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/showthread.php?55742-Above-and-beyond-the-call. The restored helicopter is shown here with his name as part of the crew for that mission: http://www.flyian.net/aircraft/museum/ncam/ch46.htm "After another stateside tour, he was sent to Korea where he fought as a platoon sergeant and was subsequently wounded, and was awarded the Purple Heart. Shea was in the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile crisis as well as duty near Cyprus during political unrest. Vietnam tours began in 1964, where he worked as an advisor to the South Vietnamese Army, and in 1970, where he was the sergeant major of a helicopter squadron. Awards and citations earned by Shea included campaign and unit medals from the end of WW II thru Viet Nam - Good Conduct, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Combat Action, Combat Air Crew, Vietnam Ranger Cadre Insignia, Navy Commendation Medal and others were personal citations throughout his career."
