Description: This is a vintage toy train passenger car out of a home. It was used and shows expected use/handling/age wear as will be described. We are not train experts so please review the description and the many images carefully using the zoom option to better understand this piece. We believe it to be HO gauge as the underside wheel rims are spaced about 5/8ths of an inch apart or .625 inches apart. The passenger car itself, without the couplings, measures about 9.25 inches in length x about 1 1/2 inches in width and stands about 2 inches tall. The passenger car weighs about 5.5 ounces unpacked and would be shipped in a box for safety. We believe the vintage train car is made of plastic (a magnet doesn't stick to this) with an overall silver coloring and a vivid orange section surrounding the windows. What is most fun here are the silhouette images of people, alone or in small groups, shown spaced out in some of the windows, with differing people images in 3 or 4 of the windows on each side of the train car. The silhouettes appear against windows that have a white overall background. We think this is one of those lighted passenger cars but we can't confirm that as we can't see any light bulbs from the outside and don't have a means of testing this passenger car, so we can't tell you whether the lights, nor the car itself, would work right now if placed on a train set/track. It is important to note that while the silhouettes appear nicely centered in the windows on one side of the car, on the other side this is not the case. On that side the silhouette piece is somewhat loose so that when the car is standing upright, the images largely drop down in the windows and are barely visible if at all. However, when handling this train, if you tilt it you will find that the inner piece with the silhouettes can slide fully upwards so that you will see four separate people images as they should have appeared in four of the windows, but aren't. We can't open the train and attempt to fix this, and don't know how this is fixed. From what we can see, this inner piece doesn't appear broken, just loose. When the train is standing in the upright position, you can see the hint of some letters/word in the right most small square window on this side, which may be a manufacturer marking on this silhouette piece on this side (we tried to show this in one of the images). Beyond the note above, the condition is used. On both sides of the vintage passenger car, near the slightly domed lid, clearly appears the railroad name, New Haven (for New Haven Railroad, we believe), with Pullman also appearing clearly under the windows in the center, all words crisp and clear. This is a replica of a Pullman Passenger Car. The car number, 238, appears in four places, again in good shape, twice on each side of the car near each end. While the train coupling appears in good shape on one end of the car, on the other end we think what was the lowered vertical pointed piece has been broken off, so the coupling is incomplete on this end The wheel units (4 wheels per unit, 8 wheels total) swivel freely left and right. We don't see any rust on the wheels but note one small rust spot on the underside in the center between the wheel units (we don't see any other rust on this car). The outside of the railroad car is in overall nice shape, showing signs of wear/age but nothing bad or distracting. There are dots of wear/spots on the dome ridges and a few on the sides of this car, and other general wear, but nothing unexpected or bad, which may be able to be cleaned up we don't know, and are selling this as is/as found. Still a neat older piece that could add fun to a toy train setup. We actually have two of these New Haven RR Pullman Cars (and several other train cars, all out of the same home) but will be listing them separately in case someone wants just one (New Haven listings designated by A and B, each with images of that train car). If you purchase more than one, we would be pleased to ship them together in the same box to save you on postage but can only do this if you please wait to pay until we send you an invoice after you have processed the Buy It Now request(s). If you pay for each Buy It Now item separately, we will have to ship each separately. So please just wait to process payment until we send you an invoice after you have processed the Buy It Now request on the items in which you are interested. Please email us with any questions and thanks for looking!
