Description: VTG Sterling Turquoise Bracelet Heavy Gauge Leaf Applique Native American Signed Here's a magnificent heavy gauge sterling silver cuff bracelet with an astonishing turquoise cabochon at its core. Three heavy gauge rails form the base of the bracelet. Two of the rails are carinated while the middle rail is hand-twisted wire. The stone itself is subtly polychrome, which makes it unique. The pyrite in the gemstone suggests to us that the turquoise is from either the Kingman Mine or Morenci Mine (both of which are in Arizona). The silversmith did everything he or she could to highlight the stone. It is bracketed by large silver dots and flat curled silver wire. Finally, two handmade curved leaves were added to either side of the stone. The band tapers from its widest of 1 3/4" to 1/2". The turquoise stone is about 9/16" by 1 1/4", and about 3/16" deep. The inner circumference is 5 1/8" with an additional wrist gap of 1 1/4". It will fit up to a 6 3/8" wrist. It weighs an impressive 58 g. The artist's hallmark is "M". While the specific silversmith is not identified, the design, craftsmanship and construction strongly suggest that he or she was (is) Navajo. Because there is a stone set in this bracelet, opening it up by hand could crack the silver or loosen the stone. The same things can happen if you squeeze the bracelet too hard to make it smaller.
