Description: Item up for sale is a wonderful vintage APH-5 military issue helicopter flight helmet with attached microphone along with a vintage U.S. Air Force Men's summer flight coveralls outfit that was found with it. Helmet and suit have NOT been cleaned and are sold exactly as found. Helmet has initials across the top front of the shell with a black visor that is adjustable and goes up and down as intended. Microphone is marked as M-33 A/A10. Helmet has an attached fabric covered plug with male end. Interior foam lining of the helmet shows soiling, patina and wear / loss. Leather pad for top and back of the head are present and show wear, patina, soiling. Leather padding around the top seam of the interior is present showing soiling, surface wear and crazing. Earphones on the interior of the helmet move as they should with fabric coverings showing soiling and patina consistent with age and use. Neck pad is in place and chin strap is in place and functional. All metal hardware shows tarnish, patina and surface wear and could use a polish with some areas showing some green oxidation. Exterior shell of the helmet shows surface stress cracks to the shell around factory drilled holes for strings attached to the earphones on the interior. Shell shows heavy surface soiling and paint / finish wear and discoloration that did not wipe off easily with just a damp cloth. Entire helmet both interior and exterior shows soiling and patina and could use a detailed cleaning. Helmet has no size or manufacturer markings that we can find. Helmet measures 10-5/8" top to bottom by 10-1/2" wide (including attached hardware) by 10-1/2" front to back. Flight suit found with it has a label on the interior that identifies this as a size 42R as manufactured by the Glenn Berry Manufacturers, Inc and a military contract number for the U.S. Air Force of MIL-C-83141A. Suit shows a few areas of thread wear and loose threads with a seam split measuring 4" in length along the rear back seam just above where the leg sleeves meet. Absolutely amazing vintage lot that comes fresh to the market from a recent estate buyout. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
