Description: I have come into a bunch of Zuni fetish carvings that I know very little about. But I'm absolutely fascinated and it's something I'd like to learn a lot more about. I'd like to learn about the artists and the stones and minerals used for the carvings as well as the meanings. I would imagine each Zuni artist picks up a mineral or other material and lets it tell him what animal resides inside. This is made from mother of pearl and I guess it wanted to be a grouping of two corn maidens with an eagle in the middle. Nicely polished. This is rather slim from front to back but stands on its own nicely. There is a long feather between the eagle and one corn maiden. When I first looked at it I thought it was two owls with an eagle in the middle. That would have been nice too! This is one of those things that just has such a nice tactile feel to it that you just want to hold it and rub it! Unsigned About 2 1/4 inches wide at the widest point and 1 1/4 inches tall. Almost a half inch thick at the widest point from front to back.
