Description: Victorian Antique 14kt Gold Turquoise Ruby Eyed Hinged Snake Serpent Bangle. Stunning bangle from the 1860s approximately. One hinge was repaired prior and now has an interior safety clasp to keep it secure. To latch the safety closed, you must push the head down slightly to ensure the safety can catch. To unlatch the safety, you need to do the same to relieve the tension holding it latched in place. I either have my spouse assist with unlatching the safety or I use a hair tie to push the head portion on my wrist to make it easy to unlatch the safety by myself. Even though the safety is on the inside of the bracelet I do not find it uncomfortable to wear at all. I don't even notice the safety is there when wearing. It does feel very secure with the added safety as well. Please be mindful that you need a small wrist to wear although it does open and can be easily placed over the hand. I would recommend a wrist no bigger than 6.25". The spring in the hinge that does not have a safety still works as designed. It's important to not overly extend that side open in order to keep the spring in working condition. Overall, a really lovely bracelet but does have wear typical of age.
