Description: Beautiful Kentucky state souvenir plate made by Vernon Kilns from Vernon CA. These plates were mfg. using a transferware process in placing scenes from local tourist areas onto a porcelain plate, then kiln fired to produce various dinnerware and souvenir plates. The art was produced by several well-known artists active in the 30's, 40's, and 50's such as Orpha Klinker, Don Blanding and Rockwell Kent. This particular plate was designed and signed by Nick Goode, a studio artist who produced various artwork for Vernon. This is a standard stock plate and offered in their annual product catalog. Around the rim of this plate are tobacco leaves and thoroughbred horses. Various scenes from around the state, including Ft. Knox, Churchill Downs and My Old Kentucky home are depicted on this beautiful plate. Plate measures 10.25" diameter and is a set in a wonderful maroon. No cracks, chips or crazing.
