This is a huge box …over 10 lb….full of recipes designed to feed 100 people..per the information on the first few cards. The box itself is not pretty to look at. It’s just a big 8” x 8” x 6” metal file box with surface rust and a few tiny paint drips down one side. The box isn’t important…it’s the contents!! This would be great for a collector of military, naval, submarine ( yes! there’s a submarine section!) items or i would think it might also be valuable for a restaurant or caterer! The info on the first card dates it in November 1960. The first two cards are a little bent but the rest seem nice and tight stored behind the labeled category cards. It also appears as though each category has an index card to that section. This is such a unique piece. It even has a framed label on the outside of the box that reads “Recipe Cards - Galley”. The last few categories in the back of the box are submarine recipes and are labeled with SRS in front of the section. Some of the cards have the submarine names on them…possibly where the recipe originated from. USS Toro, USS Cod, USS Tusk, USS Corporal to name a few. There’s many more!
