Description: Please take the time to read through my entire item description and view all the photographs. I consistently prepare accurate and detailed descriptions and provide clear close up photographs for all my listings. The aforementioned notwithstanding, note the photos are still the biggest and most important part of this or any description. As the old saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words". If you would like additional photos or have specific questions just message me and I will respond ASAP. For your consideration is this vintage MADE IN THE U.S.A. 1940’s-1950’s cast metal TOOTSIETOY two-door sedan with split front window. I am not sure as to what make and model the toy car represents but it appears it could possibly be (just my guess) an old 1949 “Pontiac - Chieftain” given some of the design features I recognize from that year and model car. The toy car is an authentic vintage toy from way back in the day and has been part of a display of a collection of vintage toys for over 40 years. I am in the middle of downsizing so I decided it was time to pass this little beauty on for someone else to treasure and enjoy. The car is made out of cast metal and weighs approximately 2.0 ounces. The car has overall measurements of approximately 4.0" in length1-3/8” in width and 1.25” in height. Please refer to description photos #14, #15, #16 and #17 to confirm the weight and size dimensions and for more details about what I have described. The car body is black with a yellow hood. As can be verified in the description photos, the overall surface of the car reflects its true age with numerous scattered areas of paint loss and surface scratches from honest age and handling over the past 70+ years. As a matter of full disclosure and in my honest opinion, although I can’t be for certain, I believe this car was repainted back in the day long before it came into my possession. I base my assumption on a few observations as follows; I see the color red exposed under the areas of black paint loss; I also noticed the front and rear bumpers, as well as the front grille, all have remnants of black paint over the silver colored paint and the yellow hood doesn’t have a clean straight border. Regardless, the car remains to be a very neat looking and nostalgic artifact from a distant past in time. The cast metal body has no cracks or splits but the top of the ROOF IS DENTED as can be confirmed in the description photos. Here again, the noted dents were on the roof when I acquired the car over 40 years ago and it never prevented me from displaying it amongst my other collectible pieces. Refer to description photos #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9 and #10 to verify the existence of the noted dents on the car roof and for more details about what I have described. The car retains all (4) four of its original black hard rubber (possibly wood) tires that are covered by the full fender wells the cars sported back in the day. All four tires are damage free and spin easily as designed and intended. The underside of the car has (4) four lines of brand information that was cast into the metal; this information reads as follows below. Refer to description photos #11 and #12 to confirm the information and for more details about what I have described. “TOOTSIETOY” “MADE” “IN” “U. S. A.” Overall, this is an authentic example of a genuine vintage 1940’s-1950’s child’s toy that a youngster back in the day undoubtedly spent many hours playing with and imagining they are driving all around in. The car can continue being displayed in its current condition or it could be a good candidate for a complete restoration. Either way, I believe any vintage toy collector would truly appreciate adding this little piece to their personal collection and/or display. Please look at the photos closely as they accurately depict the vintage TootsieToy car I describe and show exactly what you will receive if you purchase this piece. If you have any questions about this toy car please email me and I will respond ASAP.
