Description: FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE.....! Estate find... Dating from the mid 20thC, hand enhanced polychrome plate, bowl & spoon lot marked on the back as illustrated... "Fabricado em Macau" (Manufactured in Macau) The pattern has been identified as "Thousand Flowers". Portugal had a presence for centuries in Macau and had been influential in developing the export of porcelain goods prior to Macau becoming part of Communist China. As a result, Portuguese taste in ceramics leans towards the oriental, and it is quite common to find this type of hand painted wares used as decor in most Portuguese homes. This particular lot probably dates from the 1950s/60s. The plate measures 8 inches (20cm) in diameter while the bowl stands 2 1/4 inches (6cm) tall and is 4 1/2 inches (11.5cm) in diameter. The spoon measures 5 inches (13cm) long. This pattern came in different colored backgrounds. All the pieces in this lot are from the gold series. I inserted a standard size playing card in one photo for size reference. No chips, cracks or evidence of wear or cutlery marks. Everything shown as a lot. MUCH OBLIGED
