Made in the Victorian Science Fiction Steampunk style, the Seam-Saw Trepanator is meant to be an advanced, neuro-technological instrument for trepanning. Trepanning is a surgical procedure where a hole is drilled into the skull exposing the'dura mater' or outer layer of the brain. Trepanning has been used since Neolithic times as a cure for migraines, seizures, mental disorders and evil spirits. Measuring approximately 3 3/8" long and 2 7/8" wide (at its widest point), the multi-tone handmade English Pewter pendant features a spinning brass blade and comes on a 20" pewter chain. Please note: Alchemy Gothic retired The Steam-Saw Trepanator in 2014. The pendant is now rare and hard to find. Within Alchemy Empire (Alchemy Gothic's fictional Steampunk universe) the Steam-Saw Trepanator was developed for the speedy en-mass treatment (trepanning) of the victims following the full moon eclipse of 1855, in the midst of the Crimean War. Handcrafted English Pewter: This pendant was handmade in England using the highest quality English Pewter. English Pewter is a lead-free, zinc-free alloy which is valued second only to silver. English Pewter is much harder to craft than the low-grade zinc and lead alloys (which contain a significant amount of toxic impurities) that are still being used in some jewelry manufacture today. Because these pendants were handcrafted and hand-finished, each one is unique; and there are slight variations between individual pieces. Also, slight imperfections in the finished product are normal, expected, and add to the unique handmade character of each piece.
