Description: Offered here are two separate coin auction catalogs from late 1981 both of which showcases an extensive collection of United States coins (Part 1) and Foreign and US coins (Part 2) from the Springfield Collection, held by the Springfield, Mass. Library and Museum Assoc. This was another premium collection auction done by Bowers & Ruddy Galleries of Los Angeles, CA. Part 1 was done over 3 days - September 22-24, 1981. Volume/Part 1 (104 pages) is all American coins (silver and gold) ranging from a few Colonial to regular US mint issues (mostly this category) to a few commemorative issues. Also some "Hard Times" tokens, CA. fractional gold, political medals, tokens and even Phoenix buttons. Volume/Part 2 (pages not numbered but around 300!) was done over 4 days - December 15-18th, 1981 by the same firm. These sessions auctioned a huge mix of foreign coins (about half the book) from a wide range of countries and eras, medals (foreign and US), ancient coins, Civil War tokens and a lot more US coins and some currency. As with all of B&R auction catalogs, each volume has many hundreds of well rendered B&W photographs of the coins with an assortment of choice ones in a set of color plates in the front of each volume. The catalogs include the prices realized list for each volume (see images) which makes the books a great reference for the prices of such coins over time. Condition of both the catalogs are essentially "mint" (to use coin jargon) with no soiling, rips, writing or other damage. The larger Vol. 2 has a bit of a crease on the spine but is otherwise perfect. Shipping will be via USPS Media Mail rate.
