The Revenge of The Wizard’s Ghost John Bellairs, Gorey art 1st Ed, 1st Printing!

Description: I’m pleased to list this 1985 first edition, first printing hardcover of The Revenge of the Wizard’s Ghost for Bellairs/Gorey fans! This is a truly rare find, in my opinion among the top five, maybe top three rarest of the Bellairs books to find in good condition, and it is priced accordingly (to compare, at the time of this listing the cheapest hardcover copy on AbeBooks is almost $200!). As he did for almost all of Bellairs’s books, Edward Gorey drew the front cover, back cover, frontispiece, and interior illustrations, including a full page crude map. These hardcover editions of the Bellairs books are a must for any Gorey fan and look great on a shelf together. Johnny Dixon is stricken by a mysterious and magical illness, and Professor Childermass and Byron “Fergie” Ferguson must race against the clock to save their friend’s life. This is a first edition, first printing, and an ex-library book. The Mylar cover is solid and the cover is complete, though has been clipped inside the dust jacket cover. This does not affect the presentation of the book. There is one ex-library sticker on the spine. There are no stamps along the top, bottom, or sides of the book. The first interior page contains the usual library card fold. This is a great-looking edition and presents very well, particularly with the clean dust cover! The pages are in excellent condition. There is one page (see pictures) that has a tear and a stain, but otherwise the pages are clean, unmarked, and intact. The spine is not as tight as that of a new book, but I see no structural issues or needs for repair. I love the ex-library Bellairs books because the covers are typically in good condition under protective Mylar covers and this is no exception. The Dial Library Editions are my preferred editions.
