Description: The Gladiators by G J Whyte Melville, Winston’s Illustrated Handy Classics, estimated print date is 1916 based on inscription found in the front of the book. Small antique leather book with original wrapper is in good condition. Published by John C. Winston Co., illustrated by J. E. Sutcliffe. Book measures 4” x 6”, has leather binding with gilt lettering and impressions on the front and spine. Spine has no breaks. Covers have some wear at edges and at corners; covers were protected by the publisher’s wrapper and are very good for the age. Original ribbon book marker is intact, with some fading at the exposed end. Pages are clean. The only marks found inside are an inscription inside the front cover: “To David from Uncle David, 1916 Xmas”, and some notations in the upper corner from a book store. The original brown printed wrapper (dust jacket) is entirely intact with some small tears at the spine and edges. Printing is clear. See photos. Shipped with USPS Media Mail.
