The complete collection of works by William Blake, printed at the Nonesuch Press private press, designed by Francis Meynell, and composed in Ehrhardt types by the monotype service in Gough Square, London. Bound in the publisher's original quarter red cloth with marbled cloth to the boards. Spine faded. Internally the block is sound, with no leaves detached, though there is toning to the outer margins. Printed on very thin paper. Includes an acetate dust wrapper, though most likely not the original one. William Blake (1757-1827) was an English poet, painter, and printmaker. Largely unrecognised during his lifetime, Blake is now considered a seminal figure in the history of the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age. 936pp. Including notes and index of first lines. Based on the three-volume edition published by The Nonesuch Press in 1925. The editor made a complete revision of the text and included almost everything that was in the 1925 edition, apart from a debtor-and-creditor account, 1805-6, between Blake and his patron Thomas Butts, and an index to Songs of Innocence and Experience.---------------------------------------------One of a number of similar items I am selling. Fair: Another term for Poor or Reading Copy: Heavily worn or damaged, a poor book will be readable but not attractive.
