This is in Perptua Type, with illustrated pastedowns and endpapers (with a map of the Mediterranean Basin on the back pastedown and endpaper and a map of Syria and Palestine on the front pastedown and endpaper) and a red ribbon attached inside. Published by William Heinemann Limited. Printed in Great Britain by William Clowes & Sons, Ltd., London, and Beccles. This book is not dated, however it is stated on the last page to be a 3rd edition and there is a pen inscription written on the front flyleaf, which is dated 1937, and so it must date to 1937 or earlier. There is no dust jacket. The red cloth bound boards and spine are intact, but there is overall fading to the cloth. There are also a few light scratches, small marks, and minimal wear. There is gilt lettering on the spine. Please see the photographs provided for further reference. Inside, the pages are lightly tanned and thin in consistency. There is darker tanning on pages 206 to 209. There is foxing on the pastedowns, endpapers, flyleaf, half-title page and the last page. Besides this, the pages are overall clean and neat, with just the occasional small marks and only the very occasional light crease. There are no rips to the pages. As aforementioned, there is a pen inscription on the front pastedown, but no further pen or pencil written inside this book. There is a light crack in the gutter to the side of the half-title page and between the back pastedown and back free endpaper. The rest of the pages are tightly bound. There are no loose or missing pages and so, all 1238 pages are present. Please study the photos carefully as to the condition of this book, as they do form part of the description. This measures approximately 24 cm by 17 cm and 6.2 cm wide. It weighs approximately 1,618 grams. Thank you so much for looking.
