Description: This listing is for the super rare Brazilian edition which published the original story of "Superman (1939) #170/1964": Superman's Mission for President Kennedy. It is worth emphasizing that this is the only worldwide variant that featured John F. Kennedy on its cover, by Brazilian master Monteiro Filho! The original cover, following a traditionalist line, featured another Man of Steel adventure published in the same issue, entitled "If Luthor Were Superman's Father" - to avoid controversy with readers in the shockwaves caused by Kennedy's tragic death, editor Mort Weisinger preferred to "play it safe" by choosing a purely commercial cover, unrelated to the most emblematic story in that issue, that is, the one illustrated by Al Plastino. It is important to emphasize that Brazilian comics are often "mixes" of multiple editions. This one, called "Almanaque de Superman para 1965", was published in Brazil in December 1964 by Editora Brasil América Ltda. (Ebal), and contains the following issues: "Superman (1939) #132, #137, #170", and "Action Comics (1938) #279". I am not a professional grader, but this edition seems to be in good shape, specially when compared to other Brazilian comics of the same period (Silver Age). It should be noted that preservation is not a strong suit in Brazil, so please check the pictures and the preservation description before buying this comic book. I am located in Brazil and I may look for other Brazilian comics of your interest, upon request. I do combine shipping upon request.
