Description: This is an awesome, very deeply etched copy of Simone Cantarini (Italian, Pesaro 1612–1648 Verona) etching Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto offering their crowns to the arms of Cardinal Borghese (1642–43). Large margins. There’s a substantial amount of ink standing up from the lines on this startlingly accurate 19th Century copy of Cantarini’s etching from the 1600s. Stamps on the back for Amsler & Ruthardt and Reichsdruckerei. “Cantarini” written in pencil at bottom left; top left corner bent, small dot on the right at the edge of the sheet.
