Description: SETH THOMAS STRATFORD – 1905 For offer is this Seth Thomas “STRATFORD” that is in very good condition inside and out. This clock looks great while keeping excellent time. This clock is made from mahogany wood with marqueterie and brass feet. It is listed in the Tran Duy Ly book under MANTEL CLOCKS – CABINET. The case shows very few character marks which can all be seen in the pictures. The accented marqueterie above and below the dial and all edges of this clock looks beautiful and the esthetics of this clock is pleasing to the eye. The molded step up quarter round edge design at the front and sides of the base give this clock a solid foundation. Please use the zoom feature and enlarge the pictures to see all the details of this clock. This clock offers a large 6-inch porcelain dial in great condition that has a small chip at the F adjustment and the outer edge of the 8 and 4 that are hardly noticeable but worth mentioning. The scripted Seth Thomas name and painted black numerals and the hash mark chapter ring add character and elegance to this clock. This clock also has its original signature Seth Thomas spade shape hour and minute hands that give this clock a classy delicate look. This clock also features a machined clasp heavy French sash/bezel that has been cleaned without removing the original finish which opens and closes properly as it should. The original convex beveled glass has a small scratch in the center but is hardly noticeable along with tiny air bubbles in the antique glass. The back door has been re hinged sometime prior to my purchase but opens and closes properly as it should. The small metal knob on the back door will turn clockwise and counter clockwise to lock and unlock the back door which functions properly. This clock even has its original lollipop shaped pendulum bob/weight and a proper size ST stamped two sided key. Every aspect of this clock is fully functional. This model is equipped with an 8 day rebuilt fine round movement with polished brass front and back plates. The movement uses a count wheel on the back for the hour and half hour strike instead of a rack and snail which is found on newer movements located on the front. This movement was properly rebuilt by me for years of trouble free operation. Full detail of this process is below. This clock strikes the hour and half-hour on a resonant brass cathedral bell gong that is pleasing to the ear. The following procedures are done to each and every clock that I sell and none of the pictures on my listings have been reused from a previous listing/sale. Ø Disassemble the entire clock and movement myself completely. Ø Install Seth Thomas parts on the movement when needed. Ø Bush all worn pivot holes as needed with superior Burgeon bronze bushings. Ø Polish both ends of each pivot. Ø Clean the entire movement ultrasonically. Ø Clean the original dial sash and glass making sure not to alter the finish. Ø Clean bezel, parts and chime by hand. Ø Clean not alter the outside of the original finish by hand with mild cleaners as well as the inside and apply a coat of wax by hand. Ø Inspect, clean, lube springs or replace with proper size if needed. Ø Reassemble the clock, oil and lube in the proper places. Ø Adjust chime and strike hammer sequence properly to assure smooth and even strikes at each hour and half-hour. Ø Electronically regulate the beat and adjust the speed to ensure accuracy for many generations. Ø Inspect and adjust every minor detail of the clock assuring full function and peak performance for many years to come. Ø Test the clock for a minimum of two weeks to ensure peak and proper performance for the new owner. Ø Smoke free, pet free home. All clocks are cleaned and odors removed. Ø Instructions for set up provided, contact number for on going support and discounted future maintenance or repair for your clock. Ø A video is provided so you can see and hear your clock operating. This clock measures 15” H X 9 ¼” W X 5 ½” D that will give your home a sense of warmth and charm complimenting any room with its beauty and sound. This clock will be a wonderful addition to your homes décor and will appreciate more in value over the years. This clock would make the perfect gift for a first time home buyer (hope there are still some of you out there), a wedding or Christmas/Holiday gift, a gift for that special someone or just for your own personal collection to pass on to future generations. This is a need nothing clock except for the new owner to level the clock and wind it up once a week.
