I magnified a tiny chip in the marble base that was present when we got it. One thing we did do: nicked the cord in a couple of places. Please see photos. Will be tastefully repaired with white electrical tape or clear glue. It doesn’t have any effect on the lamp working, it’s superficial. The lamp is very sturdy, high quality. The shade is beautiful and sleek. In my opinion you could purchase the new lamp and this one as matching end table lamps or bedside table lamps without being able to tell that one was used for a week. Please ask me anything!
