Description: This manual was originally printed "pocket-sized" at 4" x 5.6". It has over 200 pages. There are a number of color illustrations. This reprint is 8.5"x11" - it is quite a bit larger (and easier to read) than the original. This is a distillation of several P-51 manuals (see my other auctions). It has information, mostly for the pilot, about how to use every part of the aircraft. Sections include Operating Instructions, Structure, Surface Controls, Engine, Propeller, Fuel, Oil, Cooling, Landing Gear, Hydraulics, Electrical, Radio, Instruments, Armament, Oxygen, Heating-Ventilation-Defrosting, Lubrication, Weight and Balance, Aerodynamics, Charts and Tables. Shipping free for CONUS by USPS Media Mail. More for foreign. These are not your grandmother's scans. Every page has been hand-corrected to remove as many blemishes as possible. The cover was pretty rough, so it could not be made perfect. Color correction with a known color standard sheet was used to get the colors as close to the original as possible. Special care was taken with the half-tone images to make sure all the depth and range of the originals is preserved. Manuals are printed on 24 lb paper and comb-bound with clear plastic front cover and black plastic back sheet. NO ATTEMPT IS MADE TO MAKE IT LOOK JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL. For instance, the cover is just a scan of the original cover, printed on card stock. The original manual was 3-hole punched and bound in a black military binder. This printing is comb-bound so the pages lie flat when opened.
