Description: BERNARD MONTGOMERY. Bernard Montgomery (1887–1976) was a British Army officer who commanded the Allied forces at the Battle of Alamein during World War II and later commanded the ground forces during Operation Overlord. HISTORICALLY IMPORTANT AND RARE TYPED MANUSCRIPT OF THE “INSTRUMENT OF SURRENDER OF ALL GERMAN FORCES” SIGNED BY BERNARD MONTOMERY Historically important typed manuscript of the “Instrument of Surrender of All German Armed Forces in Holland, in Northwest Germany including all Islands, and in Denmark” signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by “Montgomery of Alamein, F.M., 1971.” The manuscript contains seven provisions of the surrender, one page, measures 11.5” by 8”, in fine condition with scattered light creasing, and accompanied with a catalog description from RR Auction, the world’s leading autograph auction house. We were unable to locate any surrender documents signed by Montgomery available for sale at auction in the past 25 years making the present manuscript extremely rare and highly desirable.
