Description: Socket Bayonet for the .69 Caliber Springfield "Charleville" Musket. This Springfield Pattern 1807 Socket Bayonet were made from 1807-1809. Small piece of bridge on socket missing, these were made paper thin and broke easily. The subsequent models like the Model 1816 had a much stronger bridge. The first bayonet to have a face flute on the top front of blade (fuller), Much original finish remaining with brownish age patina with some scattered pitting. Right side of the Socket is stamped with a "K" , the ricasso area of blade is stamped, "C.US".Bayonet measures 17.50" overall with a blade length of 14.5", the inside socket diameter is .850". A wonderful piece of American History and of the War of 1812. See photos.
