Description: RARE THOMAS SHOTTON Antique "Champagne" Pitcher -Tankard / Jug.. 13.5" TALL...a gorgeous American Brilliant Period cut glass made by Thomas Shotton in Brooklyn NY, c. 1900."Champagne" pitchers are the taller and more slender then the typical pitchers you see, and collectors love them. They are pretty hard to find in any pattern these days- fewer were made and they were marketed towards the wealthier clients.This unsigned pitcher has a gorgeous design containing SHOTTON'S unique large feathered stars. (that is how I identified as Shotton). This heavy 9+ lb pitcher is of very high quality with deep overall multi-cuttings in the design cut on a heavy, thick glass body. The bowl has a scalloped upper rim with saw tooth edge, multiple cut designs stars and feathered stars and decorative patterns on body with stunning brilliance which is characteristic of cut glass from this period and this factory. The Shotton factory produced cut glass from 1894 to the 1920's. The company did not have a registered trademark so there are no known signed pieces of this glass.Measures 13 1/2" tall, 6" in diameter at bottom, and 7 1/2" wide from spout to handle and weighs 9+ Lbs. Condition: From and estate...This is a gorgeous pitcher, its nice and clear, not cloudy, with no chips or cracks. After repeated inspection I found only a few tiny "contact nips" that no one will notice and impossible to photograph, but no cracks, chips or missing or partially missing teeth. The handle is firmly attached with no checking or annealing cracks. It is heavy and gorgeous, a rare beauty and can be used to serve as well..This pitcher will be securely packed and double boxed for safe shipping. Hence higher shipping cost.
