Description: Passiflora incarnata, commonly known as maypop, purple passionflower, true passionflower, wild apricot, and wild passion vine, is a fast-growing perennial vine with climbing or trailing stems. A member of the passionflower genus Passiflora, the maypop has large, intricate flowers with prominent styles and stamens. The maypop fruit is sweet and has medicinal properties. These seeds are from my own personal garden. They have been tested to make sure they can germinate, soaked for weeks then dried so that they are ready to be put directly into the ground, and a few have been planted by myself and have successfully germinated. An order consists of 15 seeds. Passiflora flowers attract beautiful butterflies and caterpillars that use its vines to make their cocoons. For this reason, they are also often referred to as butterfly plants or butterfly vines. Plants are hardy and take little effort to maintain from season to season. Green/yellow fruit is ready when it falls off of the vine so they are easy for you and the family to know when they are ready to eat! Called the "Maypop" because if it freezes and dies back during the winter months, they will "pop" up rapidly again in around May.
