Description: Signature Shipping With Insurance by USPS Priority Signature Mail, or UPS or FedEx, whichever is cheaper and faster. Up for auction is a vintage a vintage Paden City No. 555 also called Mrs. B. Dark Copen Blue 10 Inch Footed Covered Candy Dish 1930s-1940s in absolutely Great Condition considering its age. This covered blue round shaped candy dish comes from a bye-gone era when American manufacturing was an "art", as can be seen from the gorgeously round shaped, as seen in the photographs. Paden City, not wanting to get sued, changed it original design by adding "teardrops" to every fifth bread to distinguish itself from Imperial's famous "Candlewick" pattern. Although the glass is not marked in any way, this is absolutely a Paden City Glass Co. product because this Pattern # 555 Candy Dish was one of their more known pieces, and made with many of their famous acid etchings. Unfortunately, this dark "Copen" Blue is highlighted with only some sterling silver concentric circles, and one gorgeous silver impressed band of flowers and leaves and stems all along the top outer rim of its cover, as seen in the photographs. Although some of the sterling silver has been rubbed off or is very light in color, probably due to its cleaning, most of it is still intact, and the glass is perfect. What's really amazing is that there aren't any scratches on its base, where scratches would normally be found with glassware this old. This was first manufactured during the early 1930s into the 1940s making it somewhere between 70 and 80 years old. I only wish I had more, because this footed and covered candy dish is just so gorgeous. The candy dish measures 10 inches high with its cover on and is about 3 1/2 inches deep inside with its cover off. It measures 6 1/2 inches at its widest, and sits on a round base that measures 3 3/4 inches across in diameter, as can be seen in the photographs. It is absolutely beautiful, and was purchased from an old estate sale on Long Island. Although it was pre-owned, this footed covered candy glass is in absolutely perfect condition, only some of the silver is missing or very light. Even the edge of the cover and inside of the rim where it fits is in perfect condition. I found it sitting on a shelf inside a closed dining room cabinet where it probably sat for many years. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the items as best as I can. Except for some missing/light sterling silver rings already described on the candy dish, I don't see any chips, fleabites, cracks, stains, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere on the candy dish. This comes from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal, and never charge extra for packaging and handling.
