His work spanned several areas of fine art, while he was most famous in the field of graphics and stamp creation.Graphics were one of its strongest points. He created a wide range of works that were characterized by precise technique and attention to detail. He used various graphic techniques such as linocut, woodcut, etching and drypoint. His graphic works often depicted the Slovak landscape, natural scenery and village motifs, while expressing love for the homeland and its culture.Jozef Balaz is best known for his creation of postage stamps. He designed dozens of stamps for both Czechoslovakia and Slovakia. His stamps are known for their detailed workmanship, aesthetic value and precise graphics. They depict important personalities, historical events and the natural beauty of Slovakia.His stamp creation has brought him recognition in both domestic and international forums.
