Description: Original 1918 WW1 Poster BE PATRIOTIC Sign Your Country's Pledge To Save Food 20x30 The poster is mounted on a thick, semi-stiff canvas backing adhered to a thick paper. It's pliable and would lay flat when framed although it curls at the ends when at rest as seen in the photos. The good news is, the poster has no tears or holes. The bad news, it's mounted and can't be removed. On balance, the poster has been preserved in good condition and is great for framing and display. Note that there are also water stains in the upper and lower left-hand corners. Adapted from online sources: “Be Patriotic” was one of many posters issued during World War I to encourage support of the war. This poster was commissioned by the United States Food Administration from Paul Stahr. Stahr was an American illustrator from New York and was known for his posters, book, and magazine covers. This piece features a female personification of the United States and emphasizes patriotism in a voluntary commitment to ration food to help with the war effort. This poster was created and reproduced as a colored print at the time of its distribution. Measures 30 3/4" x 23" overall.Poster measures 28 3/4" x 21". Will be shipped loosely rolled.
