The upper is constructed of a full grain cow leather. The calf part is canvas, with what appears to be nylon ankle reinforcements. The footbed is comprised of a homogenous piece of leather sewn onto the upper through white stitching. Leather foot beds are great because as the leather forms to the bottoms of your feet, there will be less stress and pressure on your feet having to form themselves to the insole. Please allow for a week of break in time, since there are jungle boots, you can drown them completely in water and walk in them until dried or broken in. This is seen on picture 2. Both come with the standard USGI mesh insoles, which work in conjunction with the drainage holes to pump air out of the boot. The lacing grommets are in good condition, with only slight oxidation on the brass drainage holes on both boots. This greenish oxidation is located on the very edges of the brass drainage holes, and can be picked off with a knife. These Direct Mold Injected Sole (DMS) boots use vulcanized rubber to attach the leather part of the upper to the soles using extreme heat and pressure to ensure an extremely durable and waterproof seal. The DMS soles show NO signs of cracking nor any compromise or ANY gap between the upper and sole. There is however, a small bug bite on the left boot’s toe area, from when the cow was still alive. Overall, these boots are in near PRISTINE condition, with only ONE bug bite on the leather from when the animal was still alive. The leather is a bit dry from the storage, but for $10 on PayPal I can remoisturize and recondition them. I would wear these myself, but size 11 narrow boots look like clown shoes on me.
