Description: Hi! You're looking at a very good condition book which is OUT OF PRINT and a classic memoir by jazz musician MILES DAVIS--the book is a STATED FIRST EDITION and Fifth Printing 1990 Touchstone Books softcover copy. This book is in very good condition and has light curling and light creases on the opening corners of the front cover and light dings and a few light creases in the same spots on the first few pages of the book, a light ding on the left center spine edge of the front surface, light dings on the spine tips and opening tips of the back cover, a very slight vertical crease on the upper back cover, a slight forward list of the spine edge, a couple of very light creases on the right portion of the front cover and just light shelfwear and light browsing wear otherwise but no other significant flaws! The book is titled Miles: The Autobiography and it was written by MILES DAVIS with QUINCY TROUPE; it was published by Touchstone Books in September 1990 and is a 1st EDITION and 5th Printing with a publication line reading 10 9 8 7 6 5.Almost universally acclaimed as a musical genius and regarded as a loathsome human being by many, Miles Davis was one of the most important and influential musicians in the world. Here, Miles speaks out about his extraordinary life. Miles: The Autobiography, like Miles himself, holds nothing back. For the first time Miles--who insisted for many years that others call him by the name "Selim Sivad"--talks about his five-year silence. He speaks frankly and openly about his drug problem and how he overcame it. He condemns the racism he encountered in the music business and in American society generally, yet expresses racist and sexist attitudes himself on nearly every page, and even brags about frequently raping and brutally beating women on many occasions. And he discusses the "special" women in his life--most of whom he violently abused, both physically and psychologically. But above all, Miles talks about music and musicians, including the legends he has played with over the years: Bird, Dizzy, Monk, Trane, Mingus, and many others. The man who gave us some of the most exciting music of the twentieth century here gives us a compelling, fascinating and often sordid autobiography. A fantastic find, and a beautiful copy of this book! Thanks for looking, and good luck if you're bidding!
