That lower unit is designed forsterndrive or inboard Mercruiser engine and outboard engine using a driveshaft extension.On top of the 9-1/4" driveshaft you insert the driveshaft extension that converts from 13 to 8 splines.You will need to buy the coupler or stub shaft and an upper driveshaft extension from an OE dealer.
