Mutes are made from a stiff, high quality foam and measure 1/2" x 1 1/4" x 4". They can be installed flat or stood on end, or with 15 seconds and a razor blade, custom fitted to your bass strings; see pictures for details. Simple friction holds them in place, and under string they can be installed and removed in a few seconds, and stay in place not only during playing, but also hauling the instrument around.
