Description: A very impressive KPM Berlin pierced urn / dessert basket. Its amazing they are able to pierce the lattice so intricately and perfectly without any distortion in the kiln. The basket and insert are in excellent condition with no damage, with only some light wear consistent with age on the gold rim. Both pieces are marked with the scepter and are 1st choice. The base also has an eagle and scepter mark indicating production between 1955 and 1975. This mark was for export with the English translation of KPM on the paper label "Royal Porcelain Manufacture". From the internet: Designed in 1810 by Johann Carl Friedrich Riese (1759-1834 German sculptor and porcelain artist) based on a design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. This basket is pierced in an elaborate manual work and thus the colored inserts come into their own perfectly and with great elegance without appearing "obtrusive". This sugar basket has a blue insert that harmonizes perfectly with the gold painting on the basket and insert. Whether you use this purely for decorative purposes or at the table, the basket always impresses with its exquisite work.
