FORMAT Hardcover LANGUAGE English CONDITION Brand New Publisher Description This book presents a broad scope of the field of biomaterials science and technology, focusing on theory, advances and applications. It is written for those who would like to develop their interest and knowledge towards biomaterials or materials science and engineering. All aspects of biomaterials science are thoroughly addressed, from basic principles of biomaterials, organs and medical devices to advanced topics such as tissue engineering, surface engineering, sterilization techniques, 3D printing and drug delivery systems. Readers are also introduced to major concepts of surface modification techniques, and potential applications of different classes of biomaterials. Multiple-choice questions at the end of every chapter will be helpful for students to test their understanding of each topic, with answers provided at the end of the book.Ultimately, this book offers a one-stop source of information on the essentials of biomaterials and engineering. It is useful both as an introduction and advanced reference on recent advances in the biomaterials field. Suitable readers include undergraduate and graduate students, especially those in Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering and Bioengineering. Author Biography Dr A Sandeep Kranthi Kiran is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS). I am convinced that Professor Seeram Ramakrishna and his co-author have delivered a top-class textbook."; Aldo R Boccaccini; Professor and Head of Institute of Biomaterials; University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany; "In the past two decades biomaterials have been witnessed to play an extraordinary role in safeguarding human healthcare by being used either for developing medical implants, therapeutic drugs or diagnostic agents. Many universities around the world have established biomaterials relevant biomedical programs to educate R&D talents in this field. Whilst an even more glorious future of biomaterials can be foreseen, there still lacks the introductory textbook to better serve educational purposes, especially in consideration of the necessity of integrating recent advances and future developing trends into the text. Therefore, the textbook initiated by Professor Seeram Ramakrishna and his colleagues with its wide content spectrum covering human disabilities and diseases, human body systems, tissue microstructures, biomaterial biocompatibility, classes of biomaterials, medical device regulation issues, surface engineering, tissue engineering / regenerative medicine, drug delivery and 3D printing, and so on, will be very useful to a wide readership not only to university undergraduate and graduate students but also to those researchers and professionals interested in acquiring or broadening knowledge in fundamental biomaterials science and engineering."; Yanzhong Zhang; Professor; Donghua University, China Details ISBN9811228175 Author Seeram Ramakrishna Language English Year 2021 ISBN-10 9811228175 ISBN-13 9789811228179 Format Hardcover Publisher World Scientific Publishing Co Pte Ltd Pages 412 Imprint World Scientific Publishing Co Pte Ltd Place of Publication Singapore Country of Publication Singapore Publication Date 2021-04-22 UK Release Date 2021-04-22 DEWEY 620.11 Audience Tertiary & Higher Education We've got this At The Nile, if you're looking for it, we've got it.
