Description: This Rose Pink blanket is in excellent condition with no holes or thinning. It has been professionally dry-cleaned. There are a couple of small stubborn mustard-coloured spots that did not come out when dry cleaned (see photos). It is a 4 point blanket and measures 84 in x 64 in. The label suggests it is 1950s vintage. Today, Hudson's Bay blankets are commonly found in point sizes of 3.5 (twin bed), 4 (double), 6 (queen) and 8 (king). Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) has contracted English woolen mills to make their famous Point Blankets since the late 1700s, and they continue to do so today. The blankets are made by John Atkinson, a sub-brand of A.W. Hainsworth & Sons Ltd., in Yorkshire, England, using wool from Britain and New Zealand. A.W. Hainsworth has been manufacturing the blankets since 1982, when they purchased Wormalds and Walkers, a company that had been trading with HBC since the 17th century. The Hudson's Bay Point Blanket is a wool blanket with stripes and points that was first made in 1779 for the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC). The blanket is considered an heirloom quality item and an iconic emblem of Canada. The blanket's most iconic design is white with green, red, yellow, and indigo stripes, which are now the HBC's emblem. The colors were chosen because they were popular and easy to produce with colorfast dyes at the time the blanket was introduced around 1800.
