Description: This is a rare antique advertising stoneware pen holder paperweight advertising Hercules Indelible Ink and Ebonink from H.Kohnstamm & Co of Chicago & New York.....HERCULES INDELIBLE INK...H.KOHNSTAMM & CO NEW YORK & CHICAGO ...EBONINK in bold black underglaze print on 3 sides....Thick heavy stoneware pottery...square tapered pyramid shape that is larger at base....one hole that runs all the way through from top to bottom and a groove on top for holding pens....white cream color....1 7/8"tall x 2 3/8"square at base.....Good condition with only a faint surface hairline & a small shallow flake on one bottom corner; no other damage. This is a very scarce advertising stoneware paperweight & pen holder over 120 years old! Heiman Kohnstamm first appears in the New York City directories (as Herman Kohnstamm) in 1867, Hesslein Kohnstamm in 1871. The business name, H. Kohnstamm, possibly dates no earlier than this time.
