The disc contains the following six movies: - Battle of Leyte Official U.S. Army film shows the planning and execution of the Allies return to the Philippines, via Leyte.A great introduction to this campaign in both the air and the sea. (25 mins) - Combat Bulletin No. 40 Combat Bulletin No. 40 from 1945, features footage from the Allied forces attack on Manila Harbor, the first landing on Luzon, air attacks on Manila harbor and other scenes of fighting in the Philippines. (18 mins) - Navy Combat Bulletin No. 2 This film features the US Navy efforts in removing Japanese forces from the Philippine Islands at the end of WW2 in 1945. It was produced in cooperation with the US Army Pictorial Services. Carrier planes of the 3rd fleet targeted enemy shipping in Manila and airfields and other installations including Cavite Navy Yard on Luzon Island, before the beach landings. (19 mins) - Manila Liberated (newsreel) Detailed newsreel on Luzon landings and Manila's liberation in hard fighting. Also, bonus material on the Iwo Jima battle. (9 mins) - I Shall Return (newsreel) Biographical short film on the life and accomplishments of General Douglas Mac Arthur, before during and after WWII. (12 mins) - Seapower in the Pacific(newsreel) This post-war U.S. Navy film begins with the Japanese invasion of the China, then the U.S. entry to the war at Pearl Harbor, and the battles that followed from Guadalcanal to the Phillipines, Marianas, Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and culminating with the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
