Description: This is an expressive and Fine Antique Old TEXAS American Brittany Hunting DOGS Oil Painting on Artist Board, likely dating to the 1930's - 1940's. This artwork depicts two finely detailed American Brittany Spaniels, who are renowned for their inborn skills at hunting game foul such as pheasants and ducks. The subjects eagerly search for their quarry in an expansive golden hued field, which is filled with large haystacks and tall stalks of wheat. Signed: "Alva Caraway" in the lower right corner. I could not find any information on this talented artist, but perhaps you know more about them or their work? Additionally, this piece bears a framer's stamp on the verso, which reads: "Framed by Rossen Paint & Wallpaper. Dallas, Texas." Approximately 14 3/4 x 17 3/4 inches (including frame.) Actual visible artwork is approximately 10 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches. Very good condition for age and storage, with light speckles of soiling or old darkened varnish at the upper right edge of the painted surface, and mild scuffing, edge wear and gilding loss to the original antique period gilded wood frame (please see photos.) Acquired in Los Angeles County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
