JVC Digital K2HD The second SACD project! Valuable live sound sources recorded on Gostel Radio have been made into SACD for the first time with the latest mastering! Contains a collection of short pieces by Shostakovich in his later years, including the transcendent "Ruslan and Lyudmila", and more in a 3-disc set. Latest SACD using K2HD mastering from Victor's own digital master! Mravinsky's mature state is reproduced on SACD! It was commercialized in 1989 from the treasured master tapes of Mr. Shugal, Mravinsky's exclusive engineer, which were hidden deep in the tape warehouse of the Leningrad Broadcasting Station. From the 1960s until Shostakovich's 12th No. 12 in 1984, which was the last recorded recording, previously unreleased sound sources were suddenly released, giving a big shock to listeners. These sound sources were only stored digitally, but on this occasion, using the master sound source, FLAIR Mastering works Kazushige Yamazaki used Victor's proud K2 technology to up-convert and master the latest. Finally released as the first SACD. Following the 2nd release of Tchaikovsky's two symphonies and others (NCS88023) and Wagner (NCS88025), we will be releasing a 3-disc set of Shostakovich and others that will mark the end of this SACD project of Gostel radio sound sources. As you know, Shostakovich was Mravinsky's most important composer and had a great influence on his career throughout his life, starting with the premiere of his Fifth Symphony. All three symphonies included here were first performed by Mravinsky, and there are multiple sound sources for the 5th in his regular repertoire (the 8th is also an important work). Yes, but the sound source of No. 9, which premiered, is not available). With the exception of No. 10, all of the recordings were made in the later years of Mravinsky's life, and No. 12 in particular is regarded as a particularly important record as it was the last sound source, but all of them are in stereo and the recording condition is as good as Mravinski's. It ranks high in the rankings, so its rarity has been unwavering since its first release in 1989. No. 5 has Mravinski's characteristically tense and tense expression, and the clear sound that makes you feel as if you can see behind the song is sure to shake your soul. Furthermore, the recording date is April 4, 1984, which is almost the final date. No. 10 is valuable because the Melody version from the same period is monaural, so this performance is the only one in stereo. The performance is as highly condensed as the 5th, and the second movement's speed and sense of unity, as well as its amazing ensemble performance, are especially worth listening to. The melody version of No. 12, recorded in 1961 immediately after the first performance, is also well known (Mravinsky refused to record any session recordings after that). Although this recording has a narrow left and right spread, it is attractive because it is a stereo recording, the passion in the performance is tremendous, and the tempo is fast. There will be a minute on the 30th of the month. The introduction is more profound than the 1961 version, and there is no performance that leaves a stronger impact on its own than this performance. After entering the main allegro, he was on his own, and I was struck by his high level of perfection and technical ability, especially the high-speed passages played by the woodwinds. As a work, there are various pros and cons in the West, but what did Mravinsky want to show in the end? Although it shows a strong attitude of letting the music speak for itself, there is no other performance that allows us to think about the background that leads to No. 5. Among the songs other than Shostakovich's, "Meistersinger" coupled with DISC 1 was previously recorded as a bonus edition (the rehearsal of "Tannhäuser" Overture was included in the second Wagner album released). Although this performance is a rehearsal, there is no scene where the performance is stopped midway through, so it is probably a general production. (Originally, it should have been recorded in the aforementioned Wagner, but due to the recording time. (This is a separate coupling. Thank you for your understanding.) The recording of Mravinsky's own poetry reading afterwards is valuable. And DISC 3's "Moscow River" and "Ruslan" are also excellent. ``Ruslan'' is as enjoyable to listen to as it is for its impregnable ensemble, much like the ferocious rush of the melody version. Mravinsky and the Leningrad Philharmonic at the time were truly unique in that they were able to showcase not only their technique but also their complete music within the constraints of a live performance. Or you could say it's one of the orchestra's highest achievements. In this project, we have re-examined that supreme performance from the master and updated it with current state-of-the-art technology for this reprint. Despite the handicap of being a digital recording with initial specs, we were able to maintain the musical aspect and create a recording that we would like to preserve for the future. Please enjoy the sound and tone. Listeners all over the world want to hear Mravinsky's performance with better sound and better balance. It is a well-known fact that there are very few sound sources that meet these conditions, but many of the previous sound sources, including Melodia, had problems with balance, and it cannot be said that they were able to fully convey the image of the time. These sound sources have not been completely eradicated, but this time, with the latest mastering, we have taken great care to preserve the musical elements while emphasizing the master. I would like to take this opportunity to preserve the best sound source that approaches Mravinsky's essence as much as possible by improving the sound quality. The master provided by Victor's Gostel Radio was originally only available digitally. Therefore, in making this SACD, we will use Victor's "K2" technology (K2HD), which was used for the series of Fedoseyev reprints in 2022, and will perform the latest mastering and reprint as a new SACD hybrid disc. . In addition, Victor has once released a remastered version as a commercial version, but for this latest reprint, we went back to the original master, re-imported it, and then mastered it. Using "K2" technology, we up-converted the CD master to 192kHz/24bit based on several comparisons in order to pursue the original sound. You can feel the difference not only in the SACD layer but also in the CD layer. In addition, the manual contains explanations of each disc, track descriptions, and various photographs (monochrome) when first released, and includes a new introduction and commentary by Mr. Naoya Hirabayashi, who witnessed Mravinsky's performance when he came to Japan. It is also valuable as a document. In addition, the jacket design uses the original design with some text changes.
