This is the true first edition that was self published by the Paolini family as Paolini International, LLC. I believe only 2000 of these first editions were self-published in 2002. Paolini spent a year traveling around the United States promoting this, his first novel. Christopher Paolini signed this book during one of his promotion tours. This is the rare paperback that precedes commercial publication and is therefore the most rare form of this book. It has a inscription to a friend of the purchaser which apparently was a common practice during his early book signings. The extras included are extremely rare flyers that were passed out at these promotions and generally discarded. Since these self published books are paperbacks that were initially marketed to schools and libraries, the book is hard to find in good condition. The book in this listing looks as if it was never even read. The interior has no marks and no torn or bent pages. All pages are totally intact and an off white ivory color. I think the included flyers caused the slight cover lift you see in the photos. Please review all photos as they are an important part of the description.
