Description: Maker Pilkington's tile Co Ltd. Technique Reliefmoulded. Date 1902. Style Art Nouveau. Size just over 6" x 6" or 154 mm x 154 mm. An exquisite Art Nouveau tile with a delicate design that fills the tile well. Pilkington's were known for great designs of the Art Nouveau movement artists like Lewis F Day, C. F. A . Voysey brought them into the 20th Century. Pilkington's became one of the leading British tile manufacturers. The whole pattern looks as if its floating in mid-air. It's in very good condition with one underglaze chip on the top right corner and a couple of minute nibbles on the bottom edge. It has some crazing in the glaze which is often found on tiles of this age. It's finished with a nice translucent glaze. Nice clean back with some light staining from its previous life in a victorian washstand or fireplace. Embossed P in two corners and the registration no in the centre for the date C1902. A fabulous single colour example to add to any collection or a stand alone tile. I HAVE ANOTHER TWO LISTED Please check the photo's carefully as this forms part of the description. Please check my other tiles as I often add new stock. Most of my tiles are in good to excellent condition. To my overseas buyers please check the shipping costs before purchasing. I take great care packing all my tiles to ensure a safe delivery. Thank you for taking the time to browse. :-)
