An early reprint, purportedly inscribed by Burroughs on the front free endpaper, "to a real swell kid -- Edgar Rice Burroughs". The signature does not however appear to match other Burroughs examples. Condition: 8vo. 316 pages - Light wear and soiling and a few finger smudges, corners and spine rubbed; binding a little tender, toning to the endpapers. There is an interesting bookplate on the front pastedown of Bob Horvath (Horvath was a frequent contributor to the long-running Edgar Rice Burroughs journal "Erbania" as both artist and interviewer). The bookplate features a Roy Krenkel drawing. Krenkel was a well-known fantasy illustrator who did many illustrations for Edgar Rice Burroughs books and other fantasy writers. **The book was purchased from a reputable book auction house in Berkeley, California.
