The lamp base is made of powder-coated wrought iron which means the finish and materials will last. The cord has a on/off switch on the cord and is in perfect working condition. The lampshade is handmade from real cocoa leaves that have been put through a preservation process called fossilization. The leaves are then dyed using natural colorants and hand sewn on to the shade form. The bottom of the shade is decorated with wrought-iron tentacles that end in a glass bead. The lamp takes standard bulbs, however, the manufacturer recommends using LED bulbs as incandescent bulbs can cause the shade to discolor over time. The lamp retails for $254.60.
