Complete 25 volume set of original 1892 Encyclopedia Britannica Ninth Edition. Known as the “Scholar’s Edition” due to its extensive content and illustrations. This is a rare set of the 1892 R.S. Peale edition with “American Revisions and Additions” including “New Maps and Original American Articles by Eminent Writers”. Please see photos for general condition. These are very heavy volumes so some of the bindings have been stressed or torn in a number of instances- see photos for examples. The hardcover binding edges and spines show wear, fraying and tears. Some have what looks like some reddish brown coloring applied at the edges of the frayed spines. Most of the inner pages are in good condition- crisp and clean - but the outer edges of the page blocks are dusty/soiled and the marbling is faded. One volume has some pages towards the back damaged at the top corners, possibly from old rodent damage- photo is shown. Owner's name is inside front covers. Also, there is one volume I leafed through that I noticed a map page and and a text page separated from the binding- see photo. Not sure if there are any pages missing. Some binding covers are weak or starting to tear and I noticed one book where the block of pages had come loose from the inside of the spine. There are some marks and white spots on most of the hardback covers- examples are shown in the photos. This 1892 set is obviously very old and is being sold “as is” with some condition issues and damage. This set will ship in THREE SEPARATE BOXES by USPS Media Mail. They will be very heavy boxes- around 30-40 pounds each. The buyer will be supplied with USPS tracking numbers. The three boxes may not arrive on the same day. We will have no control over that, obviously, but USPS tracking should keep us both posted. Any refunds would need to have all 3 boxes mailed back at the buyer's expense (over $100 by media mail as they are so heavy.) Also, Ebay only allows 1 return label per listing from the seller so you would need to organize the purchasing of the postage on your end for the other 2 boxes.
