THESE EARRINGS WERE FROM THE COLLECTION OF EBONY MAGAZINE. THE WIFE OF THE OWNER OF EBONY MAGAZINE WAS A WORLD TRAVELER AND COLLECTOR OF CUTTING EDGE FASHION, THEY WERE USED IN FASHION SHOWS, WHICH SHE ORGANIZED, ACROSS THE COUNTRY, FOCUSING ON AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN AND FASHION. THE EARRINGS WERE PLACED IN THEIR FASHION ARCHIVES, AND LATER WHEN EBONY DISPERSED THE COLLECTION, THE EARRINGS WERE PURCHASED FROM THE EBONY MAGAZINE AUCTION HELD AT HINDMAN AUCTION IN CHICAGO.
